Seasonal Maintenance Tips for Hvac Systems

Most people are confused about the right way to prepare the Hvac systems for both winter and summer seasons. However, it is not as challenging as they consider.

If you are also one of them, you can follow the maintenance tips given below:

1. Heating System Maintenance

The heating system is considered an integral part of all homes in cold areas. First of all, you have to research the parts and workings of the heating system. As installation of a new heating system can cost you thousands of dollars, you should try to extend its life span by following the tips given below:

● Inspect all the Heating System Parts

The first and foremost step is to inspect all the parts of the heating system, such as the furnace, insulated pipes, heat pump, etc. When you are checking the furnace, you should ensure that its thermostat is working properly. Its structure and wiring connections should be working properly. You should check the thermostat by switching the maximum limits of the heat.

The next thing to inspect is the blower wheel of the heating system. As this wheel maintains the circulation of the air, it collects a lot of debris and dust. Any impairment in the wheel will result in slow circulation and inefficiency of the heating system.

Moreover, you have to check the cleanliness and test the functionality of the burner, flame ignition, and sensors. You should also ensure that the vent pipes and heat exchangers are in good condition.

● Take Heating System Repairing Services

When you are done with the inspection, it is time to make all the necessary repairs immediately. The most commonly faced problems in heating systems are improper working of the thermostat, rooms not heating up, hot air not coming from the system, the smell coming from the system due to mold or bacterial growth, etc.

Whatever the issue your heating system is facing, you have to call the heating services immediately. It is recommended that the services with proper warranty be selected.

● Clean the Ducts and Vents

As heat is distributed through the ducts and vents in the entire home, any leakage or mold formation will result in several problems. That’s why you should not ignore even the smallest damage or dirt accumulation in the furnace ducts and vents.

2. Cooling System Maintenance

In summer or hot areas, you have to ensure the cooling systems are working properly. Again, if you want to maintain the cooling system, you should do thorough research about all the parts and their functions.

If you want to maintain the cooling system easily, you can consider the following tips:

● Inspection

If you don’t know the right way to inspect the cooling system, you can hire air conditioning inspection services. They will check the electrical wiring, stability of the position, air filters, condensation parts, blower fans, and thermostat.

● Repairing

Commonly, air conditioning systems face problems like leakages in refrigerants, thermostat impairments, smelly air due to mold formation, etc. Moreover, you have to replace the air filters after every 90 days. These accumulate sturdy dirt particles on them.

At the same time, you should not save money by not calling the air conditioning repair services.

● Cleaning

Different parts of the air conditioning system can be contaminated, such as the evaporator coils, condenser coils, air filters, fan blades, and drainage pipes. You can clean them through wiping, washing, chemical washing, or flush cleaning.
